University-Federal Dialogue on Environmental and Energy Research and Education

This exclusive one-day meeting allows for faculty and senior administrators at member institutions to engage with officials in the administration and at major federal agencies involved in environmental research and education. This workshop offers information and discussion on agencies' priorities, funding opportunities, and new initiatives of direct relevance to schools. It is an exceptional opportunity for university participants to obtain first-hand information and develop relationships with federal officials.
NCSE's 5th annual University-Federal Dialogue, convened in collaboration with the Council of Environmental Deans and Directors (CEDD) and the Council of Energy Research and Education Leaders (CEREL), took place on April 20, 2009, at the Madison Hotel in Washington, DC. The Dialogue featured officials from 13 federal agencies who provided an introduction to the key players in the new Obama administration and Congress. Dr. Arden Bement, Director of the National Science Foundation, gave the keynote address.
