EnvironMentors National Program Manager:
EnvironMentors seeks a committed and enthusiastic individual to serve as Program Manager to support theprogram’s expansion as a national university-based college access program. EnvironMentors is an environmental science mentoring program geared to preparing high school students from underrepresented backgrounds for college degree programs and careers in environmental and related science fields. Initiated in 1992 as a DC community based organization, EnvironMentors is now an initiative of the National Council for Science and the Environment and is undergoing an ambitious scale up as a national, university-based college access program with chapters located at universities across the country.
The Program Manager will support all aspects of EnvironMentors expansion as national college access program serving underrepresented high school students including solicitation and development of new chapters; training and capacity-building for personnel of new and existing chapters; development of webinars and other communications tools to support chapter leaders and build community among the chapter network, and support ongoing fundraising efforts for the program.

1 – 3 years experience in environmental education, teacher training, and outreach program development, management, and evaluation |
| Provision of ongoing support to university-based chapters to assist them in defining annual goals for their program, setting priorities, assessing results, and providing an environment for professional growth. |
1 – 3 years experience with mentoring and/or youth enrichment programs with a particular emphasis on underrepresented youth. |
| Preparation of Coordinators and Teachers Manual for on line delivery |
Capacity to operate effectively with a multitude of audiences including university administrators, faculty, graduate students, teachers, high students, donors, and local community leaders. |
| Coordination of in-person training workshops for chapter directors, chapter coordinators, and EnvironMentors partner teachers; |
Demonstrated success in leading and inspiring teams located in widely dispersed areas of the country,capacity to inspire loyalty to the EnvironMentors mission and purpose |
| Development and coordination of monthly webinars for chapter coordinators and teachers. |
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously |
| Oversight of EnvironMentors online networking communities for chapter directors, student coordinators, teachers, mentors, students, and alumni |
Strong written and oral communication skills. |
| Event planning and coordination for EnvironMentors annual Fair and Awards Ceremony in May |
Non-profit background and knowledge of education and environmental issues preferred. |
| Support for the National EnvironMentors Advisory Board |

| On going fundraising including proposal preparation and reporting. |

ATTENTION: Summer internship application deadline has passed!
The National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) offers internships for students and recent graduates throughout the year. Preference is given to students or graduates of the NCSE's University Affiliate institutions. “Semester in Washington” students are encouraged to apply but they will not receive a stipend as they earn academic credit. All interns will gain a diverse experience during their tenure at NCSE, engaging in a variety of programs, projects and general office tasks. Interns may assist in outreach to the academic, governmental, business, and civil communities. Opportunities made available to interns include attending briefings, seminars and conferences -- all important networking opportunities in DC and on Capitol Hill.

Responsibilities may include working on any number of our programs:
Education and Careers, Science Solutions, Annual Conference, Earth Portal , Science Policy . Additionally, interns will work with general management of the NCSE to maintain website design, electronic outreach, databases management, LAN support, web research, and content evaluation. Strong candidates will be particularly interested in working on fundraising and development issues.
Duration:
Internships usually last for 3 months with an opportunity for extension and promotion.
40 hours per week; Monday – Friday.
