Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)
This nonprofit research consortium was created by U.S. electric utilities in 1973 and currently serves more than 1000 energy-related organizations in 40 countries.
Harvard Electricity Policy Group
HEPG was founded in 1993 as a forum for discussion regarding the transition to a more competitive electricity market. HEPG takes no positions as a group.
Founded in 1973, the Heritage Foundation is a research and education institute that formulates and promotes conservative public policies. Search on "electricity."
National Governors Association
NGA is a bipartisan national organization of, by and for the nation's Governors.
National Regulatory Research Institute
The National Regulatory Research Institute (NRRI) was established by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) at The Ohio State University in 1976 to provide research, educational services, and technical services to the state regulatory commissions.
Resources for the Future
RFF is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that conducts independent research on environmental and natural resource issues.

Alliance for Competitive Electricity
Group of large and small utilities working towards restructuring.
Alliance to Save Energy
ASE is a coalition of government, environmental, and consumer leaders who promote clean and efficient use of energy. See "Electricity Reliability".
American Local Power Project
National clearinghouse for communities seeking to utilize local powers in the electric deregulation debate.
American Public Power Association
National trade association representing municipal and other state and local government-owned electric utilities.
American Solar Energy Society
National organization dedicated to advancing the near- and long-term use of solar energy nationally and globally. Click on "Solarguide," followed by "ASES Position Papers."
American Wind Energy Association
Founded in 1974, AWEA advocates the development of wind energy as a reliable, environmentally-superior energy alternative in the U.S. and around the world. This site provides AWEA's position on policy issues.
Citizens for a Sound Economy
This citizen group advocates market-based solutions, including smaller government, lower taxes, and fewer regulations, to public policy problems.
Edison Electric Institute
Represents investor-owned electric utilities, international affiliates, and industry associations worldwide..
Electricity Consumers Resource Council (ELCON)
ELCON is an association of large industrial consumers of electricity.
The National Council on Competition and the Electric Industry
A joint venture among the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO), and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to provide information about the restructuring of the electric power industry.
Natural Gas Supply Association
Represents integrated and independent companies that produce and market domestic natural gas. Click on "Issues."
Natural Resources Defense Council
NRDC is a national environmental organization with more than 400,000 members. See "Powering up the West".
Nuclear Energy Institute
Represents nuclear utilities and suppliers. Search on "restructuring."
Public Citizen's Critical Mass Energy Project
Founded in 1974 by Ralph Nader, this consumer group works to ensure that environmental and consumer interests are protected as the electric utility industry deregulates.
PURPA Reform Group
An ad hoc group of utilities dedicated to the reform of PURPA and recovery of PURPA-related costs.
